I am a working mom. I am a working mom that sometimes cuts corners. By sometimes, I mean every day. We don’t always have healthy dinners. I don’t sew, bake, or glue things. My cute “crafts” come pre-made from Hobby Lobby, and you really can find almost anything on Amazon. There have been times when my kiddo’s clothes don’t match, and I shamefully admit that I have been caught (more than once) wearing my blouse inside out. I’ve been known to throw my hair up into a bun and spray it down with body spray. The worst of it? I often forget to check the daily take-home folder. In my defense, the take-home folder is an elusive little thing. It hides out of sight until the very last minute, especially if there is something to sign or a deadline to meet.
It isn’t that I don’t want to do these things; I just CAN’T do it all. Well. Who am I kidding? Even if I had the time, I would still be the mom bringing store bought cookies to the Halloween bake sale. Regardless, I don’t feel guilty about any of it. If you are a mom who can do it all without cutting a corner or two, I’m impressed. In the meantime, who cares if I smell like Bath and Body Works spray? It smells good.
At the end of the day everyone in my house is somewhat-clean, fed, healthy, and happy. I will never be mean or hulk out on anyone, and neither will my children. And that is all that really counts.
